How we Fund
Growing thriving communities
ECCT currently has two funds open for grants on an ongoing basis.
- The Grassroots Fund
- The Community Assets & Facilities Fund (CAFF)
ECCT also has a Rangatahi Strategy with funds that are fully created and led by TiraRangatahi.
Grassroots Fund
The Grassroots Fund is to ensure communities have access to services, events and initiatives that they value. It is designed to support a broad range of positive activities that contribute to ECCT's Priority Outcomes, to achieve our vision.
The goals of the fund are to maintain valuable community services, events, clubs and other community initiatives; support a range of social and recreational activities that help build stronger, more sustainable communities; and build capacity and collaboration. There are four funding pathways under which organisations can apply for funding: -
- Participation
- Service
- Development
- Education
In general, funding can go towards operating costs, programme costs, coaching, events, equipment, small assets, vehicles, repairs and maintenance, and grassroot regional or local activities.
It will support project-based development activities to assist with community-led consultation and planning, community-based partnerships, and support community leadership and capacity development. It will also support a limited range of educational projects.
The Grassroots Fund is contestable and can grant up to $10,000 for operating and programme costs. Up to $25,000 (GST excl.) for community led development, youth development and other strengths based activities which encourage local leadership. Capital projects can receive up to $75,000 (GST excl.).
For more details on the different pathways and requirements for application, check out the Grassroots Fund page.
Community Assets Facilities Fund (CAFF)
The Community Assets & Facilities Fund is designed to help communities create and maintain the community assets and facilities needed to meaningfully participate in community life. This fund is for projects that need funding of between $75,000 - $500,000.
If you have a community asset that needs to be built, developed or maintained, have a conversation with us about how we may be able to help.
Please note: we are unlikely to fully fund a project by ourselves. We may ask if you have other funders arranged, and how much you will be putting towards a project yourselves.
For the full details, visit our Community Assets & Facilities Fund page.
Strategic Fund - Rangatahi Action Plan
ECCT launched its ground breaking Rangatahi Action plan in August 2021. The plan sets out the Trust's funding priorities for Rangatahi aged 10-24 years over the next four years. This fund is for Rangatahi and more importantly, is fully led by Rangatahi.
For more in-depth information please check out our Rangatahi Action Plan.
Funding is delivered through the Rangatahi-led Fund (open year round) & Champion Rangatahi Development Fund Please note the Champion Development Fund is now closed.
