My aspiration is that rangatahi are encouraged to take positive action into their own hands when it comes to developing their communities.”

Trevor, TiraRangatahi

  • Groups of rangatahi can apply for up to $5,000.
  • There is no closing date!

Who can apply?
You / your rōpū must be aged 12-24 years old and live in the ECCT rohe. Check out this map to see if you are in the region.  You / your rōpū must be one or more of the following:-

o Rangatahi Māori
o Pasifika youth
o Rangatahi with disabilities
o Rainbow youth

What kind of project could get funded?

We are pretty open to what could be funded. Your project could be an event or a longer project. It can be something you are doing for other rangatahi or something aimed at your community. Your project can be as long or as short as you would like it to be.

All projects need to be completed by December 2022.

In 2021, we funded 34 projects, a total of $80,000. A few great examples of the projects we funded are:-

MidC YAAY camp, Manawatū: Young people with disabilities ran an outdoor education camp for other rangatahi with disabilities where they shared new experiences, had fun and learnt lots.

Karawhiua Kan Do, Tūranganui-a-Kiwa: A rangatahi led business start up made beautiful Te Reo Māori stickers to sell and get the language used more in communities and schools.

Rangatahi Wānanga, Whakakī : A whanāu planting day with great kōrero, activities, resources and experiences to develop the next generation of kaitiaki in the local community.

Beauty and Barber Day, Shannon: Older rangatahi ran a beauty and barber event for rangatahi and the wider community, with rangatahi in the industries sharing their skills and talents.
